The women lovers in question are Brigitte, who earns a living as a hostess at a trade fair, and young Paula. Faced with the declining market value of her femininity, Brigitte becomes the mistress of the wealthy Heinz. She manages to climb back to the top, whilst Paula is only just discovering the pitfalls of life. Luxembourgish director Koxi has created an absurdly funny and bitterly tragic film that reminds us just how much we remain, even today, at the mercy of the economy of love and self-exploitation. In her feature-length debut, the director transposes the successful novel of the same name by Nobel Prize winner Elfriede Jelinek from the 1970s to the present day. The adaptation boasts a prestigious cast: Johanna Wokalek, Ben Münchow, Hannah Schiller, Sar Adina Scheer, Jasmin Artosha Mokhtare and Sveamaus as a guest star.
