National Theatre Live: The Misanthrope

Telling the truth isn’t always that easy. Alice, a brilliant writer, despises the carefully constructed lies of modern society. Yet the more she provokes those around her, the more strongly she feels their resistance. She soon has to face the fact that telling the truth in a world that would rather silence her comes at a price.

Filmed live on stage at the British National Theatre and directed by its artistic director Indhu Rubasingham, this production presents the eagerly awaited new play by Martin Crimp, who has successfully modernised works such as Cyrano de Bergerac.
