Fjord

The young Romanian-Norwegian Gheorghiu family (Renate Reinsve and Sebastian Stan) settle in a remote village by the Norwegian fjords, where they are seeking a fresh start. However, the warm welcome they receive from their new neighbours is disrupted by an unexpected accusation that shatters their peaceful life. An investigation and a court case ensue, pitting traditional family values against the strict rules of the Norwegian child protection system. Cristian Mungiu’s gripping moral drama about a clash of cultures, parental love and the right to decide the fate of one’s own children won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
