KOOZA™ marks a return to the roots of Cirque du Soleil®. It brings together two circus traditions—acrobatics and the art of clowning. The show highlights the physical demands of human performance in all its beauty and fragility, all wrapped in a colorful tapestry of bold, grotesque humor.
The show begins with the moment when the Juggler suddenly appears before the character of the Innocent One, like a jack-in-the-box. But that is just the first of many surprises to come during the show.
The title KOOZA was inspired by the Sanskrit word “koza,” which means “box,” “chest,” or “treasure,” as one of the production’s core concepts is the idea of a “circus in a box.” The show features an international cast of 54 artists, including 6 musicians and 2 singers.
Cirque du Soleil (translated as “Circus of the Sun”) is a Canadian company founded in 1984 that has fundamentally transformed the concept of circus art and defined its modern form. This “new circus” has completely eliminated live animals and focuses purely on human performance. Their performances are a fascinating synthesis of breathtaking acrobatics, modern dance, music, creative costumes, and theater.
