Year of the Widow

The interpreter Petra (Pavla Beretová) has to come to terms with the fact that she has become a widow at the age of forty due to a tragic event. She soon discovers that grief is not the only challenge she must face. Added to this is the concern for her teenage daughter (Julie Šoulcová) and the pressure from her manipulative mother-in-law (Zuzana Kronerová). And then there's the whole bureaucratic machinery that comes alive with a person's death: mortgages, loans, rents, fees, endless inheritance proceedings. Among the ruins of her life, however, Petra step by step finds the courage for a new beginning... The feature film based on true events is a delicate and moving study of the grieving process in our contemporary world. Please note that this film will only be screened in Czech.
