Viv is a Chinese filmmaker caught between Berlin and her native Beijing. During the Covid pandemic, she stays in the German capital, finding refuge in the local queer and alternative scene which offers her a new way of life and a sense of freedom. Between partying, filmmaking, and video calls with her family, she keeps coming back to the same question: where does she actually belong? The more intensely she flickers between her diverse worlds, the sharper the contrasts between them become. Viv has several homes and lives several lives, but who is she, truly? This playful documentary creates a kaleidoscopic portrait of a young woman, capturing with humour the experience of migration and the search for identity in a world where home doesn’t need to be just one place. At Berlinale, the film was nominated for both the Teddy Award and the award for Best Documentary.
