The Surfer

Years later, a man returns to the remote, idyllic beach where he grew up and spent his happiest days surfing. He wants to do the same for his son and catch some good waves together. But the local surfers have a different opinion and a clear message: "You don't live here – don't surf here!" The conflict, which started as an innocent argument, begins to escalate. Humiliation quickly turns to aggression. Tension, ridicule and cruelty grow as fast as the sweltering temperature of a hot summer. Neither side is willing to back down, and the growing madness drives the men to the brink. A planned summer idyll becomes a fight for survival... 

Lorcan Finnegan's psychological thriller THE SURFER tells a nerve-wracking tale of confronting the past, clashing cultures and the struggle for personal freedom. Filming took place on the west coast of Australia, including the Yallingup and Margaret River areas, giving the film the inimitable atmosphere of Australia's famous beaches.
