A dark, starless night, pouring rain, the 1970s in Argentina. A desperate woman soaked to the bone knocks on a doctor's door, hoping for an abortion. The doctor refuses due to the advanced stage of her pregnancy, but comes up with her own proposal. To offer the baby for adoption to her wealthy clients, but on the condition of total control over the pregnant Estella. But it's all for her own good, so why wouldn't she bend to the doctor's will? Slowly, an unbearable tension grows between the women, eventually cut short by a dagger in the hands of one of them. Partly a suspense thriller dripping with blood, partly a psychological study of a toxic relationship. Like a film plucked from a Harlequin library, it draws on B-noirs and TV soap operas, yet it remains a formally refined gem that already fulfills all the qualities of an iconic blockbuster.
