Sleeping with a Tiger

A film portrait of the renowned Austrian painter and pioneer of feminist art Marie Lassnig (1919–2014). This master of color became the first female professor of art in German-speaking countries and the first woman in Austria to be awarded the Grand Austrian State Prize (1988). Her expressive self-portraits reveal more than just a face: they are a raw record of pain, loneliness, and inner strength. Lassnig's actual paintings permeate this sensitive biographical film.
