It’s time for another “Sip & Paint” event at the Edison Filmhub cinema café! This time, our regular guest, artist and instructor Charisse Renee, will teach participants how to paint in the style of French sculptor and painter Paul Gauguin! All materials will be provided. No prior experience is necessary!
The workshop will be conducted in English and will be followed by a screening of the biographical film Gauguin, starring Vincent Cassel in the lead role.
The year is 1891. Painter Paul Gauguin is already well known in Parisian art circles, but he is weary of the so-called civilized world and its political, moral, and artistic conventions. He leaves his wife and children and sets off alone to the other side of the world, to Tahiti, driven by a longing for primal purity and ready to sacrifice everything for his quest. Impoverished and lonely, Gauguin delves deep into the Tahitian jungle, where he meets the Maori and Tehura, his muse, who will inspire his most famous works of art.
