Fifteen-year-old Enrique grows up with his grandmother in a forgotten Slovak village, while his mother Martina works in a distant city and rarely finds time to visit her son. Summer passes slowly, and lanky Enrique shortens the wait for his mother by riding mopeds and getting into minor mischief with his friends. At the same time, he conscientiously fulfills his mother's tasks—at first without question, but soon he begins to suspect that they are not as innocent as they seemed. Rumors about Martina spread throughout the village, and Enrique gradually begins to doubt the image he has created of his mother. The story is inspired by real events in the "hungry" Slovak valleys and features non-actors in the leading roles.
