This 1972 film depicts an intimate musical performance by the rock band Pink Floyd, which takes place without an audience in the ruins of an ancient Roman amphitheatre in Pompeii. In October 1971, the director Adrian Maben, who was completely absorbed by the spirit of the location, filmed a live concert, which included well-known songs such as Echoes, A Saucerful of Secrets and One of These Days. This rare footage features a behind-the-scenes look of the recording of iconic album The Dark Side of The Moon at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, and interviews with the band members, capturing their spontaneous humour. The film also delivers a visual treat thanks to breathtaking panoramic shots of Pompeii, taken day and night and was first shown at the Edinburgh Film Festival in 1972. We bring you a digitally remastered version with audio-visual enhancement while retaining the authentic charm of the original footage.
