Věra lives alone, and it seems there is nothing left for her in life. She longs for the days when she was truly happy—when she used to go sailing with her friends. But only a shadow of their old group remains, and it’s unclear whether they can even manage such an adventure. Still, they long to set sail together one last time on the open sea toward idyllic coves and sunsets. They have no idea that the greatest threat to their expedition will not be the sea, nor the old grievances that surface during the journey, but their own children, who have no patience for their elderly parents’ crazy trip. PĚT ŠVESTEK (Five Plums), directed by Jan Svěrák and starring Lenka Termerová, Oldřich Kaiser, Petr Kostka, Dana Syslová, and Jan Vlasák, is a touching and playful comedy about friendship, love, forgiveness, and the fact that the desire to live and seek freedom can accompany a person through every stage of life.
