National Theatre Live: The Importance of Being Earnest

National Theatre Live: The Importance of Being Earnest

DIRECTOR Max Webster
SCRIPT Oscar Wilde

In the countryside, Jack plays the role of a conscientious gentleman, but in the city, he's blowing off steam under a false identity. And his friend Algy takes inspiration from him. But as the two men try to impress two well-mannered ladies, they become entangled in a web of lies that is very difficult to navigate.

The joyous new version of Oscar Wilde's most celebrated comedy reunites three-time Olivier Award winner Sharon D. Clarke, current Doctor Who Ncuti Gatwa (also known from Sex Education series), Hugh Skinner (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again) and Australian talent Eliza Scanlen (Little Women, Babyteeth, Sharp Objects).

Filmed live on stage at the British National Theatre, this hilarious tale of identity, imitation and love is directed by Max Webster (NT Live: The Life of Pi, Henry V).
