Kingdom of Soap Bubbles

The film tells the story of the "Mýdlo s jelenem" brand and its founders, the Schicht family of entrepreneurs, whose name was as well known in interwar Czechoslovakia as Škoda, Baťa, or Kolben & Daněk. The documentary shows the Schicht family's meteoric rise from their modest beginnings in the basement of a village house to the construction of a factory in Ústí nad Labem and the co-founding of the multinational giant Unilever, whose products surround us to this day. The history of a family business that went through a very turbulent period during two world wars and the post-war expulsion of the German population is brought back to life in the stories of the Schicht descendants, who now live scattered around the world and are trying to rediscover their roots.
