Iron Maiden: Burning Ambition

Fifty years ago, they started out playing in pubs across East London and gradually worked their way up to the world’s biggest stages. They’ve remained there to this day. Iron Maiden rightfully ranks among the greatest legends of heavy metal, with millions of fans around the world. The creators of the documentary IRON MAIDEN: BURNING AMBITION gained access to a vast amount of archival material, from which they created a film that is a must-see for all their fans. Guiding us through the band’s past and present are the most qualified people: its former and current members, as well as famous fans like actor Javier Bardem, Lars Ulrich (Metallica), Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine), Scott Ian (Anthrax), and others. But it wouldn’t be a proper music documentary without plenty of music. Good, hard, metal. The film features most of the band’s key songs, and the filmmakers didn’t forget the band’s famous mascot, Eddie, in original animated sequences. “Our film is primarily about perseverance. The perseverance with which the band refused to conform to changing musical trends, and despite that, their family of fans grew—fans who found their identity and true friendships through Iron Maiden and their music,” says the documentary’s director, Malcolm Venville.
