This provocative film is a stylised look into the private sphere of several Austrians and their cellars by influential director Ulrich Seidl. In these meticulously maintained cellars, people indulge in their bizarre needs, hobbies, passions and obsessions. Think expensive furniture, brass bands, opera arias, and sex and sadism, Nazi relics and fitness also collide in precisely composed symmetrical shots. In his typical way, Seidl explores the underground of the Austrian soul.
