HOW TO TELL A SECRET is an Irish documentary film which explores the act of disclosure of being HIV positive and the stigma that drives people to withhold their status in Ireland today. The film, which is a documentary as well as work of art, tries to break down the stigma of HIV positivity that still persists in society. The film pays tribute to the past and to the iconic Thom McGinty, The Diceman who was one of the first in Ireland to speak openly about having AIDS, but is otherwise very firmly rooted in the here and now. The stories in this film, based on a theatrical performance, move between the bodies of young men, migrants, drag artists and activists. The form-reversing documentary introduces the cast and the ordinary people who appear on screen for the first time. The film is in English with Czech subtitles. Light refreshments will follow the screening.
