Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

DIRECTOR Chris Columbus
SCRIPT Steve Kloves

Who hasn’t at least heard the name Harry Potter by now—the wizard’s apprentice whose incredible popularity among children quickly spread to adults as well? The film adaptation of his first story was directed by Chris Columbus in collaboration with J.K. Rowling, author of the “Potter” novels, and under the strict yet inspiring guidance of his daughter Eleanor, he brought the world of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to the big screen in all its splendor and glory, befitting the world’s greatest wizard.

The entire story of THE SORCERER’S STONE revolves around the orphan Harry Potter. Shortly after his birth, both of his parents die under unusual circumstances, and Harry is therefore forced to grow up with his Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia, who constantly make it clear to him that where he lives is not a home. This makes the surprise that awaits him all the greater when, on his eleventh birthday, he receives a letter that heralds a change in his life so far. From now on, he is no longer an ordinary boy—even though he still looks like one—but becomes a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Yet even this new life will be no walk in the park, especially as Harry’s mysterious past begins to resurface, along with its dark anti-hero, Lord Voldemort...
