A concert film documenting the famous era during which the legendary Elvis Presley lived and performed in Las Vegas. Director Baz Luhrmann discovered unique and previously unseen material while preparing to shoot the feature film Elvis and edited it into a musical experience.
In the late 1960s, Elvis Presley set out for Las Vegas to play a few concerts. However, the permanently sold-out venues fundamentally changed his plans, so that a few weeks stretched into an incredible seven years. Director Baz Luhrmann used the footage he found from this period to create an impressive musical experience in which Elvis's greatest hits alternate with unique behind-the-scenes footage that reveals the artist not only as a musician but above all as a human being. "We wanted to make a film that was neither a documentary nor a classic concert recording. We tried to give viewers a dreamlike experience, a cinematic poem in which Elvis sings and tells his life story in a way they have never seen before," says director Baz Luhrmann.
