In a futuristic Shanghai, humans and sea creatures live in a fragile symbiosis. Shy ship engineer Stefan struggles to climb the ruthless corporate ladder, which ignores his visionary ideas. But everything changes the moment Princess ChaO, daughter of the ruler of the seas himself, King Neptune, unexpectedly asks him to marry her. The couple suddenly finds themselves in the spotlight and on an emotional rollercoaster on a wild journey to find closeness, intimacy, and self-acceptance. Director Yasuhiro Aoki’s visually unrestrained and playfully humorous anime celebrated success at the Fantasia and Sitges festivals and was crowned with the Jury Prize at Annecy.
