After being released from reform school, 18-year-old Wellington finds himself in the middle of bustling São Paulo – without parental support, money or ideas of what to do with his life. His situation changes when he meets the older Ronald, who makes his living as a sex worker, in a porn cinema. While the inexperienced Wellington searches for his place in the adult world, Ronaldo has proven ways to stay afloat. The two men form a special bond that is more complicated than ordinary love. But will it be enough to make them happy? Director Marcelo Caetano's second film explores the many layers of human relationships and the predicament of socially vulnerable queer people who often have to resort to illegal activities to survive. BABY premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in the Semaine de la critique section for emerging talents, where it won the Louis Roederer Foundation's Rising Star Award. The film also won the Best Latin American Film Award at the San Sebastian International Film Festival.
