A grey Warsaw housing estate, the 1980s. Tomek, a young post office clerk, sets his alarm for half past eight so that he’ll be ready when the woman from the house opposite returns home. He has been watching the attractive thirty-something Magda for a year now, with all the innocence and sincerity of his nineteen years. However, the love over which he is slowly losing control leads him to acts that go beyond the bounds of quiet admiration. He phones her, sends her fake postal notifications and starts delivering milk so that he can meet her in person; he reports a gas leak at her flat to thwart her romantic rendezvous… When he finally can’t take it any longer and confesses his feelings to her, the experienced, unhappy and lonely woman takes her revenge for his clumsy intrusion into her privacy – she invites him home and shows him what love means to her. Deeply hurt and humiliated, Tomek no longer wants to go on living…
