Cirque du Soleil: LUZIA

A waking dream of Mexico. Through a series of spectacular visual surprises and breathtaking acrobatic performances, LUZIA™ takes audiences on a surreal escape to an imaginary Mexico—a dazzlingly vivid world between dream and reality. The production journeys through a colorful mosaic of places, faces, and sounds from both traditional and modern Mexico. LUZIA, poetically guided by light (Spanish “luz”) and rain (“lluvia”), tells the story of a skydiver-traveler’s encounters with the culture, nature, and mythology of a dreamlike land inhabited by a wondrous mix of characters. Cirque du Soleil (translated as “Circus of the Sun”) is a Canadian company founded in 1984 that fundamentally transformed the concept of circus art and defined its modern form. This “new circus” completely eliminated live animals and focused purely on human performance. Their performances are a fascinating synthesis of breathtaking acrobatics, modern dance, music, creative costumes, and theater.
